About the event

During the ceremonial gala of the "Golden Exlibris", the publication "Łódź – ziemia wymyślona" by Dr Błażej Ciarkowski (Institute of History of Art, University of Lodz) was honoured in the category of "The Best Book about Lodz". The book was published by W.A.B.

Dr Błażej Ciarkowski

"Łódź – ziemia wymyślona" is my journey through the stories of Lodz. Stories, not history, because there were many of them, almost as many as the people who undertook the difficult task of "telling the city". It is a journey through the thicket of legends, myths, historical facts, truths and half-truths. A journey through a city that exists only as long as the characters describing it exist

– Dr Błażej Ciarkowski underlines.

It should be highlighted that this publication received the "Plaster Kultury" prize in April of the current year by the Foundation for the Support of Culture Plaster Łódzki in the "Literature" category.

The "Gold Exlibris" awards are intended to promote reading and writing about the Lodz Voivodeship. The jury recognises not only the author's publications but also publishing houses and libraries.
