Wioletta Piasecka is an author of numerous novels, children's books, as well as radio plays and theatre scripts. Her series "Otuleni z Syberyjskim Wiatrem" tells the story of characters in the 19th century, during the partitions and exiles to Siberia. The series includes the books "Zdeptane nadzieje" [Trampled Hopes] "Przerwana miłość" [Interrupted Love] and "Skradziona miłość" [Stolen Love], which premiered on 30 July.
So as to reflect the realities of the era better, Miłka Skalska (a journalist and a commentator), who led the meeting, invited Dr Ewelina Kostrzewska (Institute of History, University of Lodz) to join the conversation. The historian, specialising in the 19th century, spoke to the event participants about the historical background of Siberian exile.
